Shall I book Thailand hotels in advance or once there?

I am going to Thailand this December for my honeymoon. Everyone is telling me not to book any hotels / internal flights in advance because you will find much better deals once there. I have decided to book the first internal flight to chiang mai and hotel so we have somewhere to rest after a long haul from Europe. Do you think we'll find available flights & hotels there, even in the peak season of december, for our other destinations? We will be visiting Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok and Ko Samui.
No , I am not flying straight to Chiang Mai. We'll be catching a flight from Bangkok.

Phuket – Thailand

Phuket is one of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Neighbouring provinces are (from north clockwise) Phang Nga and Krabi, but as Phuket is an island there are no land boundaries. Phuket, which is approximately the size of Singapore, is Thailands largest island. The island is connected to mainland Thailand by a bridge. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoyed a rich and colorful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traders. The region now derives much of its income from tourism. ( source Wikipedia )

Southeast Asia and kickboxing arts history?

these countries are all about kickboxing? awesome.

from wiki-
"Various forms of kickboxing have long been practiced throughout Southeast Asia. As with most countries in the region, Thai culture is highly influenced by ancient civilizations within Southeast Asia. The origin of Muay Thai is unclear. One theory is that it was with the Tai people before the Tai immigration to Southeast Asia from China. Another is that it was adopted and modified off of Khmer martial arts when Thai culture was influenced by Khmer culture. A third theory is that a little bit of both the first and second theory occurred. Muay Thai evolved from its ancestor Muay Boran ("ancient boxing"), an unarmed combat used by Siamese soldiers in conjunction with Krabi Krabong. There is a phrase about Muay Boran that states, "Punch Korat, Wit Lopburi, Posture Chaiya, Faster Thasao."

i wonder how all the southeast asians decided kickboxing was gonna b there style?

AWESOME. even tho East Asian countries like japan, korea, china look down on southeast Asians like they were dirt.

Hi Guys i need your advice……?

Help! Going to Thailand next Saturday, Bangkok, phi phi, krabi, samui, phang yan and koh tao......what i want to ask is A I've seen a cheap flight from Krabi to Samui (£25) should i book it now ? Or wait until i am there? Will i get a better deal from the agents over there? Is it better to leave things open to chance rather than book flights in between? And B I need to get back to Bangkok from Samui to fly home, Bangkok airways flights are £88 from samui ! Do you think its worth it paying that as its easy and quick or better to head to Surat by boat then fly from Surat to Bangkok (flight is only £30 from surat) but im only there for 3 weeks so dont want to waster last day travelling around ......any advice? Will the ferry /boat combo take forever and end up costing nearly as much in transfers etc?
is this how i reply? thanks so much.....heard the same about krabi.....was just going to use this as a stepping stone to get to samui. i understand what you are saying about the flight......don't want to be fixed to anything......how much does the ferry/bus from samui to surat cost? really not sure what the best option is.....save £40 and ferry it or sod the £40 for convenience! yes also heard that about samui. is there a way to set up a transfer to phang yan from the airport when we land?? thanks agin!!

help with Trip to Thailand?

Next month I am planning on visiting Thailand! I plan to be there a month or so! While I am there I want to visit for sure Phuket and Krabi and China and Singapore.

I will arrive in bangkok so i plan on getting a motel for a day to rest and then take a train to Phuket. I just do not know where the train station is at. I plan on staying in Phuket for a week or so then going to Krabi for a week. After that I might want to visit Singapore and then China.

I just need some details on the name of the train system and where it is located in bangkok

thanks

Does anyone know how much the International and Domestic departure travel tax costs are?

can anyone tell me how much the international departure tax is if i will be going to:

1.Krabi via Air Asia from Malaysia
2.Bangkok to Singapore via Air Asia

And if there is any domestic departure tax that needs to be paid if i'll be flying from Krabi to Bangkok?

My trip is finally pushing through next week and i'm really excited. If you can provide me with the amount and in which currency it's accepted, i'd appreciate it so that i can prepare the money in advance and have it tucked away under my 'travel money' stash :)
thanks cracklin! I don't live in Malaysia, but i've posted a question as well in the Malaysian site, hopefully i get answers too. I'll be going to MY from SG from PH :)
